2. Data We Collect

Activity Data Lawful Basis
£25k Challenge entry Name, email, social confirmations, age, timestamp. Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
Challenge Tracker sign-up Name, email, challenge type, details, end date, frequency, public tracker preference. Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
Weight loss challenges Weight (kg/lbs), target weight, weigh-in data submitted via unique URL. Explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)). Body weight is health data under Art. 9.
Other challenges Challenge description, check-in confirmations, progress data. Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
Charity pledge Charity name, pledge amount. Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
Donation confirmation Screenshot or confirmation of charity donation, if voluntarily provided after missing a target. Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). Retained 3 months post-challenge, then deleted.
Video evidence Video showing participant and scale reading for weight loss, or challenge attempt for physical challenges. Explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)) where health data is visible.
Website analytics Anonymised IP, browser, pages visited, time spent. Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).

3. How We Use It

  • Administer the £25,000 Weight Loss Challenge prize draw.
  • Operate the Challenge Tracker: store challenge details, record check-ins, and display progress.
  • Send confirmation emails when you enter the draw or create a challenge.
  • Contact you about your challenge or prize draw outcome.
  • Display your progress on the public tracker, if opted in: first name, challenge type, progress percentage, and check-in streak only. Actual weight is never displayed.
  • Calculate and display anonymised, aggregated impact counters on the website: total lbs lost, total £ given to charity, and total challenges completed. No individual is identifiable from these totals.
  • Improve the website based on usage patterns via Google Analytics.

We will not use your data for marketing purposes unless you give separate, explicit consent.

We will not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for their marketing purposes.

4. Sharing

Recipient Data Purpose
Google Analytics Anonymised usage data, with IP anonymised. Website performance and analytics.
Email provider, e.g. Gmail Email address, name. Sending confirmation emails and communications.
Website platform, e.g. Squarespace or Webflow Form submission data. Hosting and form processing.
Public progress tracker visitors First name, challenge type, progress percentage, and streak, if opted in. Public accountability. Weight is never shown.
Impact counters, public Aggregated totals only: lbs lost, £ to charity, and challenges completed. Public display. No individual is identifiable.
Prize winner details under CAP Code Surname and county of residence. Published or available on request within 3 months of settlement.

We do not transfer your data outside the UK or European Economic Area.

5. Retention

Challenge Tracker data, including targets and check-ins Duration of challenge plus 12 months.
Video evidence 90 days after challenge ends.
Donation confirmation screenshots 3 months after challenge ends.
Charity pledge details Duration of challenge plus 3 months.
Website analytics 26 months, based on Google Analytics default retention.

6. Your Rights

You have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, object to processing, and withdraw consent where applicable. To make a request, email betofyourlife@gmail.com with the subject line DATA REQUEST.

We aim to respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

7. Cookies

We use SSL/TLS and secure storage. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
